One of the Forgotten: Grout

One of the many things that I don't like about design besides paperwork, curtain design, and scanning drawings is choosing a grout.  But let's be honest it may be one of the better things on that list.

Often times I pick out a gorgeous tile and the thought of picking out a grout color, sort of ruins the fantasy for me.  And lets just say for the record that I'm not really on board with the no grout look ala DIY network.  Something about the space behind the tile being accessible is gross.  So when thinking of grout there is alot to consider to get the desired look.

Like whether you wan the grout to match the tile and blend in for a more monolithic look-

Or whether you want it to really stand out--

Another thing to take in to consideration is the size of the grout. Traditionally 1/4" or 1/8" has been used in the past, but you can also put the tiles as close as you can a do a very thin grout, which is also great for keeping the grout lines clean :)

Or you can really ramp them up to make a statement, almost looks like an area rug.  Just make sure that you seal it really well or else you will steaming those babies until the cows come home.
