Peacock Blues

Since fall has been creeping in lately, and here in the South, I mean CREEPING, we are in the between stage where the weather is still hot, but there are sweaters in the stores...great.  Time to take our brights into a deeper shade and I'm embracing the peacock hues.

Something about a peacock says roaring 1920's and feminine (although peacocks are males(?!?!?!?!))  Must be the cute little hairpiece feathers they have :)  Anyway, I digress.  My obsessions started with this wall covering from National Wallcovering called Quill , how fabulous would this look in a powder?  Available is other color ways too, but it can't get any better than the black and gold in my book.

Fun and funky wall covering, but maybe a little too organic and busy.  LOVE the plumbing fixtures however.

 

 Of course the famous Pier 1 mirror that they desperately need to bring back in my opinion.  While on that subject, Pier 1 is notorious for having great stuff out of stock...just saying.

What I've been working on lately....

I have about a billion pictures on my camera, but finding the time to upload has apparently been beneath me...excuses right?  So here are few projects I've been working on around the house that I've been meaning to share.

First project was the Entryway-  I've had a Moroccan tile pattern from Jones Design Company penciled on the walls for longer than I want to share.  So I sucked it up, turned on the DVR full of last seasons Flipping Out, and got to work. Surprisingly, it wasn't as terribly painful as I imagines :)

 

Before:  BORING.

After: Fun Pop of something when you walk in.  Still need to jazz up the closet door with some mouldings and maybe scratch off that awful popcorn.  But for now, loving the punch of pattern.

 

 

Project Two was some much needed artwork.  I've been scavenging the web/stores/blogs for a "Wow" art piece within in a reasonable budget and also was pulled into an Art show extravaganza for this fall. So got out my paint brushes and got to work.  I had so much fun creating these pieces that I'm going to continue.  Wish me luck at the Art Show!

A little bit of good JuJu....

And boy do I need it...I've been suffering through a hellish nightmare with North Texas Tollway for the past 4 years...4 people!!!!  I've done everything from shell out Benjamin's to go on NBC twice to rant and rave about the ridiculousness of the organization.  So I guess on this Manic Monday we could all use some positive JuJu ---

Have you seen the new Cameroonian JuJu hats that have been popping up all over interiors?  I'm a fan, so vibrant and exotic, and what gal doesn't like feathers???

Trending--Unbalanced Rooms

Hey all and Merry Christmas week to you!!!  I know that my brain activity has slowed way down because all I can think of is family time and a little R&R :)  I can't get my mind off of Holiday baking, warm fire and snuggling up with a book.

Well anyway, off of the topic of Holidays, I've been noticing a new trend happening, off centering.  Its probably most of our first reactions to center artwork over the bed, couch, dresser, etc or the piece of furniture on the wall.  But a local decorator company by the name of Gary Riggs Interiors really likes to throw it off.  What are your thoughts, too unbalanced or something interesting you would try?

I've always really enjoyed Gary and his team's work because of all the layers that he incorporates, you eyes find something new every time you look at the picture. And their choice of artwork is impeccable in my opinion!  You should really check out their work.
