Happy 2014!

Although I've already been back to work since the holidays, today is apparently the most depressing day of the year says the news.  Everyone is back in the saddle for a full work week and if you are like me, wishing to get back in your cozy house slippers.

But of course New Year means new resolutions and here goes mine:

#1  I'm getting licensed ya'll.

This is the year I've decided I'm no longer putting off taking my exam to make me a licensed Interior Designer.  I've got  long since had the required years of experience, its just doing it... (Oh yea, and paying an arm and leg for it.)  Believe me, when I pass, there will be champagne. top shelf. and maybe some carbs.

#2  Being more Consistent with my posts

I hear you, if you want to be successful in blogging you have to treat it like a job.  I know its not apparent, but I have a little ADD when it comes to free time, I have a hard time not doing something.  So I'll be a little more organized and diligent and that'll translate into more content for you, right?  Well that's what I tell myself anyway.  DIY and Foodie Fridays are on the top of my list, but let me know if there is something else you think I'm slacking on.  I'll be better.  for real this time.

#3  New House = Construction

Since we've moved into our swanky 1970's party pad that has such a cool layout with great bones, but some really dated features-- we have lots of reno to do.

We actually started this past weekend of tackling our "public bathroom."  And I finally learned how to drywall-Somebody try to stop me now!!!  But I want to be more diligent in getting my own projects up, as long as the hubs allows it :)

#4  Hot Bod

Its the tale as old as time, but I need to get better at the Health thing.  SureI eats tons of veg and drink lots of water and tea, but I need to round it out with some good old fashioned 'G' time.  For once in my life I wanna be like "Dang girl!"  Which I'm hoping will get there with my new Wii Hip Hop game---so fun!

So what do you think, attainable? Me thinks, yuh.  I hear the less you resolute, the more you do :)

Home Spotlight: Bijou and Boheme

I guess that I just have feminine on the brain as of late, but this fellow blogger totally rocks the house! Don't be fooled by Christine of Bijou and Boheme's use of pink and feminine touches, she is quite a little spitfire and I'm hooked. Marble, brass and vintage....This is a definite must read!
Take a few peek's at her house--
Christine is bold for sure with her pattern choices, but does it in such an eloquent way keeping them in the same palette, very sophisticated.  And I love that she has a sense of humor in her house, the art and the wall covering are terrific!

What a GORG little vignette, that settee and pillows are perfection.  I love orchids so much that they could go in just about every room in my house, glad we agree.

I think that we can all agree that TV's are something that you have to design around, unless of course you are one of those people who don't have a TV--, which I don't really understand what that's about.....but I digress. I love how this sizable TV is incorporated, NOT the focal point, which I see so much of these days.

Christine also uses Mirrors all over the place, a girl after my own heart.  Not only do mirrors make your space appear bigger, they also reflect light.  Bonus!
How insanly jealous I am that she has enough space in her living room for two sitting areas.

Here is an earlier pic of the Christine's kitchen, but by the looks of her recent post/tease, she has made some renovations and I likey.  Can't wait for that unveiling!

See what I mean???? Brass pulls, and Marble and Wood, Oh my!

I can only assume that this is a shot of an office?  Is that cabinet an Ikea hack?  B/c it has to be hands down the best I've seen!

I admire Christine's collection of art and curiosities-- Her art collection makes me want to melt into a pile of  'I die.'  And it seems that most of them are from Etsy artists and reprints :)

Love the use of her live flowers, so bold and beauiful!

Don't think for a second that Christine gives in to the Holiday traditional, she keeps it glam with pink and gold to tie in with the rest of her home.

Her powder bath makes me want to bust out the black paint brush, like yesterday.

Must. have. lion head door pulls. And fabulous leopard fur.

I know that you guys are probably thinking, 'but I have kids that make my design very minimalist and we are overridden with toys.' Well so does this chick.....and its still fabulous.  No more excuses!

Thanks Christine for you inspiration!

Ms. Hollywood Regency herself has started a blog called My Vibe My Life-- cue the happy dance!  I can't wait to see her behind the scenes perspective...and what she's wearing :)

Is it just me or is she going from Glamour to the 80's????

Happy 1st Birthday to The Styled Life

I can't believe its been a year since I started this little old thing!  Looking back to a year ago, when The Styled Life was just a twinkle in my eye, I just wanted something to keep up with trends and as a creative outlet for myself since leaving the Interiors industry.  Its been great (for me) so far, maybe not so much for some of you...But I'd have to say that I'm actually surprised at the number of people who have dropped me a note to say that they actually read my stuff and they LIKE it :)

So to everyone who enjoys my random, sarcastic, and probably grammatically incorrectness, here's to another year!!! Oh, and if there is anything that you want more or less of, drop me a comment..... I'm dying to know if anyone has been trying the recipes!

Blog Crush: Signed by Tina

For those of us who love a good blog, it's always fun to come across a new one that you can just devour for hours like a new magazine.  Well, somehow I found this one authored by a girl in Sweden and simply put...she rocks!  I love that she has so many different things that she's featuring, colors, food, design, beauty products, inspirational photography, the list goes on.  I can't wait to check out her daily reads!

This is her own condo that she took from Ikea overload to absolutely FAB on a budget! :)

PS-She put those nail heads on the cabinets herself...I die.

...and made the artwork herself.

This is her "dressing room"  LOVE!

This may be a little too fabulous for me (I know, I said it), but if you see the before, this kitchen has come years!
