Hey all, I stumbled upon this website on the Mecca of links that is Pinterest and found a real goodie.

We all have those days when we open up the pantry or fridge and grumble that we have nothing to eat when in fact there are plenty of items staring back at us.  Well my friends, enter My Fridge Food.  You check the boxes of food items that you have on hand and Voila! Several recipes with pictures(because we all know that the way to our stomach is through the eyes).  No need to make a trip to the store. LOVE!

Style Spotlight: Jeff Andrews

Hope Everyone had a great long weekend filled with no diet food in sight! But now we embark on this strange period between to major holidays where everything goes into a blur of gift wrap, family visits, cooking and cold weather. Let the madness begin!!
Today's spotlight is on a "Designer to the stars: Ryan Seacrest, The Kardashians, and even designer of television show sets, Jeff Andrews.  Typical of most LA designers(although he's based in Mount Washington and flies in several times a week), he focuses on leisurely design and the livability of the space, but this soft-spoken, shy guy left his career of being a choreographer (to Madonna!!!!) to build his business with the non-Hollywood types.  Check out this natural--
You may recognize this from a certain show?  That's right, its Dexter's hideout from Showtime

How striking is this bedroom? A great mix of earthy and glam

The Kardashian who started it all and her TV famous office

How bold is that powder???  The one room in your place that you can go wild and not look insane.

Another Kardashian Shot, this time the Home base, the Jenner's

I love the dated but timeless feel to this kitchen, I wonder if that stove is "Green?"

These last three are from Andrew's own casa

Foodie Friday (on Tuesday): Thanksgiving Turkey Dinner made easy

I have a confession--If it weren't for my family members through the years cooking a bird, I probably wouldn't have anything more than a store bought roast turkey breast or even (gasp! a turkey frozen dinner) ...this girl ain't so good at cooking meat.  I'm always afraid to under cook it and end up cooking it until its leathery.  Any meat pros who have suggestions are welcome to advise, otherwise I'm sticking to baking.

So if you can't stand to have a turkey sand which ("Monica calls it the 'Moist-Maker' and its MY SAAANDWHICH!!!!!") here is an amazing crock pot recipe that does double duty, turkey and stuffing, just don't forget to pick up some gravy if your a gravy kind of peep.  Happy Thanksgiving!

Crock pot Turkey with Stuffing

1 Tbsp. olive oil
1 onion, chopped
2 Tbsp. apple jelly
6 oz. pkg. turkey flavor stuffing mix (one step brand)
3/4 cup water
2 lb. boneless, skinless turkey breast half
salt and pepper to taste

Heat oil in large skillet. Add onion and cook for 5 minutes until light brown, stirring frequently. Add jelly and heat for 1 minute longer or until golden brown.
Spray a 4-6 quart slow cooker with nonstick cooking spray. Place stuffing mix in prepared cooker. Drizzle with water and mix gently. Sprinkle turkey with salt and pepper and place on stuffing mix. Spoon onion mixture over turkey and spread evenly.
Cover and cook on low for 5-6 hours. Serves 5

Oh the weather outside.....

This gray sky and chilly weather makes me want to curl up in front of a fire with a good book (just ordered a slew of the gorgeous Penguin Classics to get me through the winter).  My fireplace really doesn't put out much warmth so its been made into a focal point of the LR and nothing else.  But a girl can dream....here are a few that I would gladly warm up to.

Loving the painted antique looking mantel, really makes it modern and fresh.

Has a the original charm, cozy and bohemian.

Carrera.... 'nough said.

I'm a sucker for the painted white floors.

Don't see many of these fireplaces that are big enough for Santa to walk through :)

Love an outdoor/indoor living area, yes please!

Foodie Fridays: BBQ Chicken Pizza Soup

Well, its finally cold here, and when I mean cold I mean 58 degrees and I have my seat heaters on high in my car.....with flip flops.  Its Texas ya'll, coats and flips. But perfect weather for soup!

So have you ever had California Pizza Kitchen's BBQ Chicken Salad?  It brings me back to my college days when my roommate and I would split a BBQ Chicken Salad and a Tostada Pizza then PIG out!  Those were the days right? Anywho, here is a lighter version of the college staple in a soup, and it even passed the man test, plus it was SUPER easy!

Ingredients:

2 Tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
1 medium onion, finely chopped
2 Tablespoons fresh minced garlic
11 oz can corn with peppers, drained
2 12 oz cans Swanson’s Chicken, drained or I a store-bought roasted chicken breast shredded
1 1/2 Cups Chicken Broth
1/2 Cup BBQ Sauce
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
1/4 teaspoon fresh cracked black pepper
1/4 teaspoon Lawry’s Garlic Salt
1/2 Cup fresh cilantro leaves, chopped

Heat oil into a medium pot over medium heat.  When hot, saute onions for 5 minutes or until softened.  Stir in garlic, corn and chicken breast; mix to combine.  Pour in chicken broth, BBQ sauce, salt, pepper, garlic salt and cilantro leaves.   Reduce heat to low and simmer for 5 minutes or until ready to serve.  Garnish each bowl with a fresh sprig of cilantro.
4-6 servings

Office Spaces

Isn't is a dream for all of us to have an amazing office?  Especially when you spend a crazy amount of time in front of a computer like I do... I need a place to  be inspired, stay sane (but that's questionable, last week I barreled into my boss's office about an ipad giveaway that I suffered through an entire speal on accordion doors and looked like a total loony tunes), keep my junk, and be "me."

So when it comes to a home or work office I say, do it big!  Make bold gestures and make it a place that you can live in, because you just might!  An office is a great place to have things that make you happy every time you see them and they don't have to match the rest of the house/office.

I love how this partner's style office has a intricate and traditional desk on one side and ultra sleek and modern with a gorgeous(but probably very uncomfortable) chair.
This office from BH&G has a very serene feel to it and probably matches the rest of the house.  The only saving grace for me in this office is the all color and those windows.

Loving the custom but simplified look of this home office.  The shelves have a very open look but a couple cabinets hide your not so pretties.

Another built in look to solve some of your space issues.  A fold out couch for your guests!  Another mix of styles, tradish lines of the couch, mouldings and window treatments, but a Parsons desk.

A hoarder's nightmare, but pretty if you're poet :)

I hope you are not still afraid of the dark because this office is such a cozy and sleek work cave. LOVE!

Chalkboard paint, antique pharmacist cabinet repainted and family keepsakes all framed, over an Ikea rug.  Not sure where I got this one.

Foodie Friday: Rice Crisy treats on CRACK....as if they weren't already food crack.

Sorry this is a day late ya'll.

I love rice crispy treats, I mean L.O.V.E.  But only when they are done right, lots or marshmallow goo and chunks of mallows added at the very end before it goes into the pan.  I seriously cannot stop eating them.  So when I saw this recipe on Pinterest called Cake Batter Rice Krispies-- the sprinkles, the cake batter, I just had to smile. Great idea for a birthday party (Happy 32nd Birthday J!!!!!) or for his work "MOvember" bake sale, who can say no to these?????

Ingredients:

6 Tbsp. butter
1 (10 oz.) bag of mini-marshmallows
1/3 cup yellow cake mix (the dry cake mix, not prepared into a batter!
5 cups crispy rice cereal
1 (1.75 oz.) container of sprinkles

Melt butter in a large saucepan over low heat and add marshmallows. Stir until they begin to melt, adding in (dry) cake mix one spoonful at a time so its combined. Stir in cereal so it is completely coated with marshmallow mixture. Sprinkle in half of the sprinkles and mix. Press into nonstick sprayed baking dish (any size will do) and top with remaining sprinkles. Let sit for about 30 minutes before cutting. I find spraying a knife with nonstick spray helps to cut them.

Battle of the Sexes

I was perusing my unpublished posts and came across a few that I was actually shocked that I never got around to posting.  Mainly because they rock the house...kidding, kidding! But really-- Its no secret that I'm a huge fan of eclectic interiors and LOVE mixing Feminine styles with the Masculine (I hear your pain guys...).  And this of course falls at a great time when Masculine style is really popular, hello, Equestrian Chic!!!
At first glance this feels pretty Feminine, the white furniture, bowl of something girly, the twisted lines of the occasional chairs along the wall.  But there are a few hints of a dude, brown velvet pillows, the horse!!!!!, grey wainscoting(reminiscent of menswear) and a map.
The photo wall, 'weathered' leather sofa, and burl wood coffee table totally have that "Man-feel."  But the glamour of the table lamps, the elegant white roses and orchids = FEM!

This image screams West Elm which I don't like--Nothing I can't stand more than an entire room looking like it came straight from the same showroom.... but I digress. Hard lines of the bed, the bold artpiece and tree limbs equal Masculine.  Pintucked duvet, the delicate throw pillow and lamp base, Feminine.

VERY manly, but a touch of glam with the chandy....and man do I love a great chandy!

Now I know this image has been around the block...and two guys live here, but just a touch of feme--take a look at the skirted nightstands with and curvaceous lamp and hydrangeas.

Super manly again, but the antique rug gives it just a touch of a lady's taste as well as the nightstand's foot stool(?????) with white and nailheads.

This kitchen is amazeballs.  I think that the floor is a dark stained concrete that is very heavy but the woodworking on the cabinets and the carerra are very light and feme.  PS- bet you didn't even notice the ugly pipes along the wall that would have freaked all of us out.

This one is pretty dang masculine.  But keeping the walls light and the windows bright makes it acceptable for a women to live here :)

I bet you can tell which elements I would call out without me even telling you.

Masculine, could be part of the same room above actaully.  The electrical wiring almost makes this look like it has some massive mouldings, love!!!

Looks like a homade pendant, very unique!
